#72 | 3 Under-used Ways to Get Help with NetSuite

“The only mistake you can make is not asking for help.” This famous quote from Sandeep Jauhar encourages people to ask for help and not be ashamed of it. Instead of pretending you know everything and making yourself look busy, go ahead and ask for help as it contributes to your productivity by getting things done correctly.

In NetSuite, asking for help is so easy, and you’ll not just have one answer. To know more about the types of help you can get from NetSuite’s Help button, click on the topics below.

I suggest you watch the video. It’s easier to understand if you are a visual/audio learner. The content below is the same as the video. It’s for those who learn by reading.

Help Button

You can find the Help button at the top of the page on the upper right hand side. The Help button is adaptive or dynamic to where you are in NetSuite.

To explain what adaptive or dynamic means, here is an example: if you are in the journal entry page and you’re not sure how to create a journal entry, you can click on help, and it will show help materials that are related to making journal entries.

The Help Center has a lot of printed content that you can read and learn from.

Below, you can see that under Accounting, you can look at Taxation, Financial Statements, Fixed Assets Management, Statistical Accounting, Multi-book Accounting, General Accounting, and Banking.

SuiteAnswers for Advanced Questions

If you have more advanced questions that you need to figure out, then go to SuiteAnswers, which you can find at the upper left-hand side as shown in the previous image.

Clicking on this will open this new window. SuiteAnswers is like a library of different solutions and questions.

To get help with a journal entry workflow, follow these steps:

  • Type in “journal entry workflow” in the search bar.
  • Select the Search button.
  • This will now show the results from the search you made.
    • You can see that there are 69 results – support articles, training videos, help topics, and best practices.

  • From these results, select the article that you think would be most helpful for our needs.

At the bottom of the search results, you will also see Answers others found helpful. These are related answers which other people have searched that can be helpful to your own search.

This is really helpful because, sometimes, you might not have the right keywords, but other people might have found the right keywords. This will allow you to get the significant answers as well.

Training Videos

Within SuiteAnswers you’ll also find that NetSuite has training videos in the Help Files. Most of the training videos are very basic, but these are recommended for new users.

You can see below some of the types of topics available. It gets more detailed as you go down through the training videos.

To navigate through the training videos, follow these steps:

  • On the left panel, select the topic you need help with.
  • The middle section will then show the list of content available for that topic.
  • Click on the item that is most helpful to you to watch the video.

In NetSuite, getting help is easy and can be done with a few clicks. To go back, click on the link below.
